How to root your Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE I9505 that runs on Android 4.4.2 XXUGNE5 firmware

If you have updated your Galaxy S4 LTE I9505 to Android 4.4.2 XXUGNE5 official update then you have most likely lost the root access to the system partition of your handset. In this post, you will learn how to easily regain it. All you must do is to read carefully the instructions and the preparation guidelines provided below.

  • Use this tutorial only for Galaxy S4 LTE I9505. Verify these requirements at "Settings"> "About device".
  • You will be requested to connect your handset to a computer, so you must have available a compatible USB cable. Also, the computer you are going to use must have the latest Samsung USB drivers[1]  installed on it.
  • To ensure a connection without issues, you should disable any antivirus software on both your phone and computer. Also, from the "Developer Options" menu, you should enable the "USB Debugging" option.
  • During the procedure, data, files and applications from the internal storage of your Galaxy S4 will be deleted. It's not pleasant for sure! To avoid the loss of important stuff, you should back up the entire content of your device by using a backup tool such as "Helium[2]".
  • Remember that this operation is not official, thus the warranty of your device will be voided. No reason to panic, as you can easily reinstate the warranty by installing a stock firmware back on your device.
  • One last piece of advice, make sure that the battery of your device is charged more than 50%. This will prevent your phone from going off during the procedure, and thus avoid any damage of your phone.
