Root your Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE I9505 that runs on Android 4.4.2 XXUFNB8 official firmware and install a CWM recovery image

If you've updated your Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE I9505 to the latest Android 4.4.2 XXUFNB8 official update, then you've probably realised that the root access to the system partition of your handset has been voided. To be able to further customize your device, it is important to regain this root access, in order to unchain the system partition from its factory settings, and be able to install whatever you think might suit your needs and preferences. The purpose of this tutorial is to teach you how to perform the procedure of rooting your Galaxy S4 LTE in the easiest way possible, without bricking or damaging your device, by using the CF-Auto-Root file. Even more, we have provided you with a list of key guidelines that will help you prepare for the rooting process. Read all the information carefully, as each detail can make a big difference.

  • First, go to "Settings"> "About Phone" and verify the model number of your handset. This tutorial is specially designed for gaining root access on your Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE I9505 that runs on Android 4.4.2 XXUFNB8. Please do not use this post for any other device, as you may brick it.
  • Rooting your handset is not an official operation, so the flash counter of your handset will be increased, resulting into a voided warranty. No need to worry, as the warranty can be reinstated by installing on your handset an official firmware.
  • You will be requested to connect your handset to a computer, so you must have available a compatible USB cable. Also, the computer you are about to use must have the Samsung USB drivers[1]  installed on it.
  • To ensure a good and smooth connection, you should disable any antivirus software on both your phone and computer. Also, from the "Developer Options" menu, you should enable the "USB Debugging" option.
  • A full wipe will be performed during this procedure. So, data, files and settings will be erased from your device. As nobody wants to lose their photos, videos or any other data, we recommend you to create a backup of your phone's content, by using a free backup tool such as "Helium[2]". Also backup your contacts by sync-ing them with your Google account. Find more details on how to do that here[3].
  • An unexpected shutdown of your device caused by lack of power can brick or damage your phone. To prevent such a thing, make sure that the battery of your handset is charged over 80%.
